HOUSTON – A group of middle school boys attacked a jogger at Arthur Storey Park on Thursday morning, said Harris County Constable Precinct 5.
It happened at about 9:44 a.m.
The woman who was allegedly attacked spoke exclusively to Channel 2 News.
She said she was walking the trail and listening to music through her headphones when four boys came up from behind her and put a knife to her neck.
"I was scared. My mind doesn't think anything," said the woman. "And then they say, 'Give me your money!' and I say, 'I don't have money.' And then they say, 'Give me your phone! Give me your phone!'"
The woman tells Channel 2 News she refused to give them what they demanded and that's when the boys struggled with her.
"These suspects happen to be school-age type of kids, out here, robbing people at knife point," said Sgt. Hinojosa with Harris County Precinct 5.
The alleged victim said the boys took off shortly after the struggle: "I said 'Help, help, help!' and suddenly people around me, they walked up and saw it and the guys ran away."
The woman said she then called 911.
Officers tracked three of the four kids down at a nearby apartment complex and arrested them.
The jogger said she is thankful to be alive and forgives the boys for what she said they did to her.
"Just give them a little bit punishment but not too much. They're still young. They still have their future," she said.
Precinct 5 said there were other similar armed robberies at the park before, and they are investigating to figure out whether Thursday morning's attack is connected to the others.
