HOUSTON – Costco is already a place you can go to save some money, but you can actually keep even more cash in your pocket if you know what to do.
You'll never see clearance or sale signs at Costco, so it's hard to know what items are marked down until now.

He's written a blog about smart shopping at Costco and the secret codes you should look out for in order to save money.
Look for items that end with 97 cents. Regular priced items usually end at 99 cents.
The ones that are selling for example, $179.97, are the items that did not sell and must be cleared out.
Also, look for an asterisk on the upper right side of the sign.
If you see one, that means the item is not being reordered and whatever stock they have in the store will be sold and not replaced.
Finally, look for manager markdowns. These are usually in a special area of the store and could be an item someone returned that's a little damaged, or it could be a display item that they no longer want to display. Manager markdowns end with 88 cents.
