Suspect in custody after deadly shooting in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – Houston police took one man into custody after a deadly shooting in northeast Houston Monday evening.
Marcus D. Menifee has been charged with murder.
According to police, Menifee shot and killed 35-year-old Marcus Stewart in the 7400 block of St. Louis Street. Houston police said Menifee accused Stewart of stealing money from him.
He left the location and returned with a weapon. Police said he then shot Stewart multiple times. Stewart was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Menifee was still at the scene of the shooting when police arrived, and officers quickly took him into custody.
Menifee, 34, is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
