Crosby ISD warns parents about Halloween party invitation

Invitation asks partygoers to bring booze, dress provocatively

CROSBY, Texas – A local school district is warning parents about a Halloween party invitation that asks partygoers to bring booze and dress provocatively.

Word of the party spread by using the hashtag "#IzzyPromoHalloweenBash" on Twitter. The invite said there would be Jell-O shots, jungle juice and "slutty ladies." It said the party was expected to start at 11 p.m. Halloween night, but did not give an exact location.

Crosby ISD Superintendent Keith Moore got word of the invite spreading in the Crosby community. He decided to post a warning to parents on the Crosby ISD Facebook page.

"Not to tell them what to do with their children, but to give them information so they can make decisions for themselves," Moore said.

The post caught the attention of a lot of parents, most of them grateful for the heads up.

"I think it's good," said Crosby ISD parent Marsha Mitchell. "Everyone uses social media these days and they are bound to see something on social media before a text or call."

Moore said even though it's not a school function, it is important the district keeps the community informed, and these days one of the best ways to do that is through social media.

"Personally it would just be hard for me to know I had information I didn't share and then some harm did come to somebody," Moore said.

Local 2 searched social media Friday afternoon and it looked like the party had been canceled. Local law enforcement is still aware of it just in case.
