Suspected pimp arrested after chase

Jermaine Wallace wanted in Colorado

HOUSTON – A suspected pimp was arrested after a police chase on Thursday.

U.S. marshals said Jermaine Wallace was wanted on multiple charges in Colorado, including weapons violations, compelling prostitution, drug possession and sexual assault.

Wallace was arrested after the taxi cab he and four women were riding on lead investigators on a short chase in northwest Houston.

The women were not arrested.

"If we were prostitutes, he would be a pimp," one of the women said. "We're not prostitutes, so he is not that."

Wallace was very talkative after his arrest.

"Walk so, man, because you've been out here talking for 30 minutes," Wallace said to a deputy U.S. marshal. "Let me talk. Please, America, let me be heard."

Wallace never stopped proclaiming his innocence.

"I'm innocent of all these charges," he said. "The only reason I'm running right now is because they're breaking the law. My entire case was fabricated."

Investigators said Wallace has been operating in Colorado, Las Vegas, Miami and Houston, hoping to do big business when sporting events and conferences were in town.

"I don't deal with prostitutes," Wallace said. "I deal with dancers. That's not against the law."

Wallace will be extradited to Colorado after he makes a court appearance in Harris County.

Marshals said Wallace makes about $275,000 a year and had a considerable amount of cash in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Wallace has a taste for expensive homes, fast card and exotic animals, officials said. Many of those items have been seized by Colorado authorities.
