Houston author Mariah Kingsley brings a fresh perspective to romance stories

Her newly re-released novel “Fractured” gives two old flames a second chance at love.

HOUSTON – What makes a love story feel real? For Houston author Mariah Kingsley, it’s the messy, unexpected moments that make her characters come alive.

During Romance Awareness Month, Kingsley stopped by “Houston Life” to talk about her writing, the experiences that have shaped her perspective and the re-release of her novel “Fractured” the first book in her Broken Series. The story follows two former teenage sweethearts who reconnect 17 years later, giving them another chance at love — but with plenty of life and change between them.

Kingsley describes her work as “realism” rather than simply romance, exploring love, family, forgiveness, healing and second chances through fictional characters and stories.
