HOUSTON – Art made in a classroom doesn’t always make it past the hallway.
But a new exhibition organized by the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston’s Teacher Advisory Group is changing that and giving Greater Houston students and their teachers a chance to see their work presented in a gallery setting.
“The Sequence Is Yours” features artwork from elementary through high school students alongside work created by teachers. Some pieces are by individual artists, while others reflect an entire classroom working together to showcase one collective work.
This collection is organized by CAMH’s Teacher Advisory Group, also known as TAG. It is an annual cohort of 15 art teachers from across the Greater Houston area. Launched in 2021, TAG was created to bring teachers’ perspectives into CAMH’s education and public programming and empower young creators to create conversations through art.
Applications for the 2026-27 TAG cohort are open and close Aug. 17, 2026.
The exhibition is on view at Mid Main Lofts (3550 Main St.) through Sept. 3, 2026.
You can also attend the TAG Alumni Celebration and Reunion on Friday, Aug. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mid Main Lofts; admission is free with registration.
