Tips for Planning the Perfect Summer Getaway

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to plan a getaway, late summer could be your sweet spot. With the busy Fourth of July travel rush behind us and families beginning to shift into back-to-school mode, travel expert Jeanenne Tornatore says travelers can enjoy better deals, fewer crowds, and comfortable weather.

One destination topping her list is Breckenridge, Colorado. While it’s best known for skiing, the mountain town shines in the summer with cool temperatures, hiking, mountain biking, scenic gondola rides, wildflowers, free concerts, and even guided stargazing after earning an International Dark Sky Community designation. Visitors can also enjoy chef-driven restaurants, art galleries, and performances throughout the town.

For travelers craving the beach, Tornatore recommends booking luxury resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean during late summer. As demand drops after schools reopen, many upscale properties become more affordable, allowing travelers to enjoy five-star experiences for less. She highlighted luxury resorts in Punta Mita and along Mexico’s Pacific Coast that offer oceanfront accommodations, world-class golf, spa experiences, and private beaches.

It’s also not too early to think ahead. Tornatore recommends booking fall trips now and taking advantage of early-season deals on winter ski vacations and lift passes before prices increase. Planning ahead can lead to significant savings.
