Houston – A simple walk through a farmers market has turned into a viral movement that is changing lives across Texas and beyond.
Content creator David Dominguez who goes by @davidspov_ on TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook and @Goingoutwithchungy on Instagram. Dominguez joined Houston Life to share how a layoff in May 2025 led him to an unexpected new purpose: spotlighting small businesses that often go unnoticed.
“I already visited farmers’ markets and shopped local,” he said. “I started noticing vendors with no foot traffic, and I figured the best way to support them was to post them online.”
Using Meta smart glasses, he began capturing unscripted moments with vendors, letting them tell their stories in real time. What started as casual content quickly grew into a global wave of support.
He says viewers from around the world now regularly buy from businesses featured in his videos, even if they’ve never stepped foot in Texas.
One standout example is a Dawna’s beef jerky in Rosenberg. After the video went viral, the business reportedly received more than 2,200 orders almost immediately. The surge was so overwhelming that the owners initially thought the alerts were spam.
Another success story comes from a family-run granola business in Dad’s Granola in Austin that saw international demand after being featured, with thousands of requests coming in from places including Canada, Malaysia and parts of Europe.
But his approach is intentional. Rather than focusing on the busiest booths, he seeks out smaller, overlooked vendors and gives them space to share their stories.
He also emphasized that transparency matters when filming. While some vendors notice the glasses, many only realize afterward they were being recorded once the video is done.
