Houston – Houston is about to go global! In just 69 days, fans from around the world will flood the city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and local restaurants have a huge opportunity to cash in. With the economic impact estimated to be $1.5 billion, local restaurants are poised to get a big piece of that pie.
Sysco Houston is helping local restaurants and vendors get ready with their World Cup-themed Food Show on April 8. The event brings together 150+ suppliers and 500+ restaurant operators to explore global flavors, test menu ideas, and prepare for high-volume service during the tournament. “Houston’s diverse food scene is one of the most culturally rich in the country,” says Ryan Forth, President of Sysco Foods South Texas Region. “Chefs can showcase dishes that appeal to both local diners and international fans.”
Restaurants that attend the Food Show will get a sneak peek at creative, fan-friendly menu ideas from globally inspired dishes to playful themed items that draw crowds. Plus, they’ll connect directly with suppliers and industry experts to make sure they’re ready for the rush.
With seven World Cup matches coming to the city over 39 days, restaurants have a chance to boost revenue, highlight their unique offerings, and serve hungry visitors from around the world.
Want to get in on the action? The World Cup-themed food show is not open to the public, but registration for restaurants and vendors is open now and can be accessed up until the start of the event.
