Houston – Jazzy Sundays in the Parks is bringing the smooths sounds of live music back to downtown Houston, turning Discovery Green into a hub for local talent and community connection. The free concert series, invites Houstonians to slow down and enjoy Sunday evenings filled with jazz and blues in an outdoor setting.
This weekend, the spotlight is on Houston native Mathias Lattin, a rising blues singer and guitarist who is quickly gaining international attention. A graduate of Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Lattin discovered his passion for music at a young age and has been immersed in Houston’s music scene since his early teens.
Lattin’s career has already taken him far beyond Texas. After earning top honors at the International Blues Challenge, including a rare double win, he has toured across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Despite his growing global presence, performing in Houston remains especially meaningful, offering a chance to reconnect with the community that shaped him.
Jazzy Sundays in the Parks continues to highlight the depth of talent rooted in Houston. The series, made possible through support from the Kinder Foundation and partnerships with groups like the Buffalo Bayou Partnership, is designed to bring people together through music and shared experiences in the city’s green spaces.
While the series traditionally kicks off at Emancipation Park, this year’s March performances are being held at Discovery Green as the historic park undergoes upgrades, including the addition of a new performance stage. The celebration will continue in April at Buffalo Bayou Park, giving audiences even more opportunities to catch live performances.
With just a few weekends left at Discovery Green, Jazzy Sundays offers the perfect excuse to gather with friends, discover new artists, and experience the energy of Houston’s music scene, all for free.
