HOUSTON – A growing wellness trend centered around lymphatic health is gaining traction in Houston — and one local business is introducing a unique approach to the conversation.
At The Tox - Uptown, co-owners Nataline and Chase Oelkers offer what they call the Tox Technique, a specialized body sculpting method designed to support lymphatic flow and overall wellness.
While it’s not marketed as a traditional massage, the experience is often described as functional bodywork — combining targeted hands-on techniques with a specialized suction device that works along the body’s lymphatic pathways.
Many clients say they leave sessions feeling lighter, less puffy, and more energized.
Understanding the lymphatic system
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and lymph nodes that helps move lymph fluid throughout the body. It plays an important role in immune health and fluid balance.
Unlike the circulatory system, which relies on the heart to pump blood, the lymphatic system depends largely on movement and muscle activity to keep fluid circulating.
That’s one reason practices that stimulate lymphatic flow — including exercise, stretching, and specialized bodywork — have become increasingly popular in wellness spaces.
A technique designed to sculpt and support wellness
The Tox Technique incorporates structured movements intended to encourage lymphatic flow while also contouring and sculpting the body.
The studio offers several services built around the technique, including:
Master Tox
A full-body sculpting session designed to support lymphatic flow and help reduce temporary water retention. Practitioners use proprietary strokes and specialized tools to target key lymphatic areas throughout the body.
Pregnancy Tox
A modified version of the technique designed specifically for expectant mothers, focusing on comfort while helping address common concerns such as swelling and fluid retention during pregnancy.
Sculpting Facial
A facial treatment that combines massage techniques with tools such as a gua sha stone and sculpting wand to help relieve facial tension, encourage lymphatic movement, and reduce the appearance of puffiness.
The facial is finished with a custom caffeinated mask designed to energize the skin and leave the complexion looking refreshed.
The personal story behind The Tox
For Nataline and Chase Oelkers, opening The Tox was about more than launching a wellness business.
The couple says their focus on healthy living deepened after losing close friends to illness. Nataline’s brother passed away after battling colorectal cancer — a loss that profoundly shaped the couple’s outlook on health and lifestyle.
At the same time, they had recently become empty nesters and were looking for a meaningful project they could pursue together.
Opening The Tox allowed them to honor Nataline’s brother while creating a space centered on wellness and self-care.
“We wanted to build something positive that encourages people to take care of themselves,” the couple shared.
Why lymphatic wellness is trending
Across the country, interest in lymphatic wellness continues to grow as more people explore holistic approaches to feeling their best.
From dry brushing to compression therapy and body sculpting treatments, many wellness routines now include practices that support lymphatic movement.
For the team at The Tox, the goal is simple: help people feel better in their bodies.
“We love seeing clients leave feeling lighter, more confident, and energized,” they say.
