Houston native Kyrie McAlpin Talks ‘The Burbs’, Keke Palmer & a very Seth MacFarlane Christmas party

Houston has a new reason to tune in this weekend 🎬

The new TV series ‘The Burbs’ premieres on Peacock this Sunday, February 8, and one of its rising stars just happens to be a Houston native.

Houston Life’s Melanie Camp sat down with actress Kyrie McAlpin to talk all things The Burbs—plus what it’s really like working alongside Keke Palmer, attending a very Seth MacFarlane-style Christmas party, and how faith has played a major role in helping her chase (and land) her Hollywood dreams.

McAlpin, who grew up in Houston, says stepping onto a set like The Burbs still feels surreal - when she looks around and realizes she’s sharing scenes with performers she’s admired for years. At the first table read for ‘The Burbs’ she said she had a full fan-girl moment when she saw Palmer in the room.

And yes, we had to ask about the Christmas party. According to McAlpin, attending a holiday bash hosted by Seth MacFarlane is exactly as iconic as you’d imagine - equal parts glamorous, unexpected, and full of famous faces.

Beyond the glitz, McAlpin also opens up about staying grounded in an industry known for its ups and downs. She shares how her faith has helped her stay focused, resilient, and hopeful - even when the road felt uncertain.
