Bill Skarsgård steps beyond horror roots in new film, ‘Dead Man’s Wire’

HOUSTON – When most people think of actor Bill Skarsgård, they think of his iconic performance as Pennywise the killer clown in Steven King’s ‘It’ franchise, but now the actor is taking on a new role.

His latest film, ‘Dead Man’s Wire,’ was directed by Gus Van Sant, and inspired by a true 1977 hostage crisis.

Bill takes on the role of Tony Kiritsis, a desperate Indianapolis man who, pushed to the brink by financial ruin, takes a mortgage executive hostage with a shotgun wired to both their necks — turning his standoff into a tense, 63-hour spectacle that captivated a nation.

With its authentic 1970s atmosphere, media frenzy dynamics, and standout supporting cast including Dacre Montgomery, Colman Domingo, and Al Pacino, the film blends character study and social commentary into a thought-provoking, that will have audiences on the edge of their seats.

Watch as Lauren Kelly catches up with Bill for a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together.
