Winterize the easy way: How the Freeze Miser helps protect your pipes

HOUSTON – If you dread rainy, icy or freezing nights because of the risk of burst pipes, Freeze Miser may be the simple solution you need.

David Baker and Jeff Jubela of Freeze Miser joined Houston Life to explain this made-in-the-USA faucet protector.

The Freeze Miser is a mechanical, temperature-activated device that prevents outdoor faucets, hoses and above-ground piping from freezing - with no electricity or batteries required.

How it works (and where to use it)

Freeze Miser is a self-regulating flow-control protector that automatically releases just enough water to keep the protected line at about 37°F. It activates only when water temperature drops below freezing and then meters flow, so water remains above the freeze point. Use it on outdoor faucets, hoses, animal waterers, pressure switches and RV water lines. Each unit protects up to 150 feet of exposed hose or pipe above ground. Because it’s purely mechanical, it works even during power outages.

Freeze Miser is manufactured in Texas and sold nationally. Fans report reliable protection in severe cold - Freeze Miser notes activation down to very low temps.

For Houston homeowners who want low-effort winter prep, this device offers a simple, dependable option to reduce the risk and expense of frozen pipes.
