Houston – ‘Tis the season, Houston! There’s a fun holiday show downtown that refuses to play it safe. ‘Drunk Christmas Carol’ is back, and if you’ve never seen it before, the concept is simple. One actor takes several shots right before the performance, and the rest of the cast has to roll with whatever happens. It’s the same chaotic, playful energy fans love from “Drunk Shakespeare,” just more festive.
Actor Joey Herrera, who plays Scrooge, stopped by Houston Life to share what it is like stepping into such an iconic role while also navigating the unpredictable moments that come with performing alongside someone who is very much not sober. He talked about how the cast prepares for the show, how they build trust with each other, and why the looseness actually brings out some surprisingly heartfelt moments.
Joey also showed us a simple improv game you can try at home this season with friends and family. All you need is a bag filled with random items. Each person pulls something out and explains why it is their Christmas gift this year. The sillier the reason, the better. It is an easy way to break the ice during holiday gatherings and get everyone laughing. Watch the video player above for full instructions.
The production runs through January 4th and offers a fun, offbeat spin on the classic story. Click HERE to purchase tickets.
