Houston ā Houston Lifeās Melanie Camp and KPRC 2 Chief Meteorologist Anthony Yanez recently welcomed two special guests from Houstonās iconic Alley Theatre: Resident Acting Company member Elizabeth Bunch and Associate Artistic Director Brandon Weinbrenner.
The Alley team shared exciting news about their upcoming season, which includes a mix of beloved traditions and bold new productions. Audiences can look forward to The Da Vinci Code, the world premiere of The Body Snatcher, and the return of The Night Shift Before Christmas, written by Texas native Isaac Gomez. Of course, no holiday season in Houston would be complete without the Alleyās signature production of A Christmas Carol, a tradition that transforms the stage into a snowy holiday wonderland year after year.
The Alleyās resident company of actors often hit major milestones. Bunch recently celebrated her 100th show, while her husband and fellow company member Chris Hutchison will mark his 100th during The Da Vinci Code - Bunch will be at her 101st show by the time Hutchison hits his 100th though, so he still has a little catching up to do!
Weinbrenner highlighted the artistry that happens entirely in-house, āEvery aspect of the show is made by Houston artisans. We have the best team to do the best season with the best actors,ā he said.
As for what makes the Alleyās comedies work, Weinbrenner pointed to one key ingredient - truth. āComedy is funny because itās true. If the actors really play their intentions truthfully, the comedy naturally rises to the surface,ā he explained.
