Houston – She’s penned chart-toppers for Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, and some of the biggest K-pop acts in the world. But now, Chikk is finally stepping into the spotlight with a sound that’s entirely her own.
Born and raised in Southern California, music was always her passion. She grew up with the gospel and listening to music legends like Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Whitney Houston, but at age 11, she started writing country inspired by LeAnn Rimes. By 15, she was writing all the time, taking professional meetings, and making a name for herself. At 18, her career took off, ultimately signing with the now president of the Grammys Harvey Mason Jr., as his protégé. Days later they were off to South Korea for her to create magic with the rising genre of K-pop. She left that first trip with two #1s.
After 16 trips back and forth, she has more than 60 credits to her name, with 47 hitting the Billboard charts.
In 2017, at the height of her songwriting success, she survived a devastating car accident that nearly took her life. Her feet were severed, her leg shattered, her arm crushed. Doctors told her she’d never walk again.
Chikk says she knew she was born to sing, and the same faith she was raised on, and the same faith that brought her success, will be the same one to get her walking again, and she did!
Now based in Houston, Chikk is blending the genres that shaped her into a debut album dropping this fall. The lead single, “Proud,” is a personal anthem, and her recent performance at House of Blues Houston proved that the world is ready for her sound.
“When we performed our originals, the crowd told us everything we needed to know. Houston’s ready. The world is ready,”
