Honoring the fallen: Local store closes Memorial Day, offers sales all month instead

HOUSTON – Texas Mattress Makers and Living Designs Furniture are doing something few retailers do on Memorial Day: they’re staying closed. Instead of using the holiday to shop, they hope you’ll spend time with those you love and remember the fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice.

“On Memorial Day, my wish is that every business in this town shuts down,” said Youval Meicler, the owner, adding that his stores will be having sales all month long instead.
