Cheers! Paul Zahn treats us to trendy beverages for the spring and summer season

Houston – Spring is here and summer is right around the corner and you know what that means? Spring and Summer soirées! But what beverages will be on trend? Don’t fret, we have you covered. From drinks for the whole family to some 21+ options, entertaining expert Paul Zahn stopped by Houston Life’s Studio B to share some of his top spring and summer beverage trends for 2024. The last time we saw him was four years ago, virtually!

One of the biggest trends you’ll see this year is the rise of mocktails. These zero-alcohol drinks are gaining popularity as many people are drinking less alcohol and focusing more on their health. Plus, no hangover!

Zahn says low and no-proof drinks will go strong for summertime. No-proof spirits are widely successful, as are spritzes, like the popular Aperol Spritz but another kind is coming in hot. It’s the Hugo Spritz. It’s made of three simple ingredients of elderflower liqueur, prosecco, and soda water.

Elevated ready-to-drink cocktails are also on trend. It follows the boom of canned seltzers. They can be found at liquor stores, grocery stores, and bars.

Another trend to look out for is sustainability with wine and cocktails. Mother Nature needs our help even when it comes to cocktails and wines!

Prebiotic sodas offer a low-sugar, high-fiber drink that’s good for your gut. Brands like Olipop are made with plant-based ingredients.

Agave spirits are set to outpace vodka in bars, nightclubs, and restaurants in 2024.

Lastly, coffee cocktails outside of the espresso martini are getting their time in the spotlight.
