Puppy cuteness overload! Fun ways for you and your pup to celebrate National Puppy Day

HOUSTON – March 23rd is National Puppy Day, AKA - the perfect day for dog lovers all over the world to show their love for their furry friends. (Like we don’t do that every day already!)

In case you were wondering, here’s a little back round on the holiday. National Puppy Day is not only a day to celebrate puppies, but was created in 2006 by animal expert and behaviorist, author Colleen Paige to bring awareness to all dogs in need of adoption and loving family homes.

We turned to our puppy expert friends at Believe in DOG Training in The Heights for some fun and creative ways both you and your pup can celebrate the holiday!

Owner Stephanie Bennett gave us some great tips for the tiny puppy about play time today. Here are a few takeaways:

- Puppy play is a great way for your pup to learn all about socialization. It’s very important when they’re young!

- It’s a great way for them to build confidence, comfortability and redirection

- Make sure there are tons of interruptions as the pups play which can help calm them down

- It’s always important to have PAW-sitive reinforcement!

The Believe in DOG Training team are full of total pros, and they are so great with all of the fur babies who come in.

And they’re doing something special for Houston Life viewers!

They have a discount right now for anyone who rescues a dog (a puppy or full grown - any rescue) from any local rescue organization. All you have to do is call the BID crew and let them know you saw them on Houston Life, they will give you a 15% discount on any group class!

Watch as Lauren Kelly and Stephanie Bennett give us CUTENESS OVERLOAD with some adorable furry friends today!

And Happy National Puppy Day!
