UH Hispanic Alumni Association fashion show raising money for scholarship opportunities

HOUSTON – The UH Hispanic Alumni Association is fundraising with fashion Saturday, February 10, 2024. The group has been working tirelessly to feature local vendors, designers, and more to present to the public.

“It’s just a big group of friends, a labor of love project, but we love to do it,” Veronica said.

The funds raised will go to scholarships for UH students who need financial assistance.

“We depend heavily on in-kind donations, supporters, and sponsors in order to do the scholarships,” Perla said.

These two women are passionate about growing the community.

“You don’t have to be a UH alumni to participate, you don’t have to be Hispanic, you don’t have to speak Spanish, it’s an English event, don’t let that scare you away. We are just a big group of people that love fundraising for our Alma Mater,” Veronica said.

Tickets are still available and they are tax deductible.

“We are having 4 designers and one of them is a student, this is the first year having a student and we are so happy we are giving her an opportunity to be there,” Perla said.
