Get to know Nishita Parekh as she debuts her first book in her literary journey πŸ“š πŸ“š

HOUSTON – Calling all book lovers! There’s a new author in town.

Her name is Nishita Parekh, and she just released her first book last Tuesday. It’s a gripping mystery thriller called β€˜The Night of the Storm.’

Drawing inspiration from her personal background, Parekh includes elements unique to Houston and her cultural identity as a South Asian mother. Set in Houston, the book is about a multigenerational Indian American family finding refuge with each other as Hurricane Harvey hits the city. But that’s not all. There’s a murderer loose in the same house.

While the book keeps the reader in suspense, it also explores the South Asian culture, immigrant life, and motherhood challenges.

Like the book’s main character, Parekh’s immediate and extended family found shelter in Parekh’s apartment, which inspired the locked-room concept of her book.

β€œThe Night of the Storm’ is available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, prh.com, and at a local bookstore in Murder by the Book located on Bissonnet.
