How to keep your plants extra healthy on national houseplant day

Houston – We know you’ll agree with us: National Houseplant Day is a BIG DEAL! So that’s why we enlisted the help of plant expert Jemine Oakes from local plant shop The Flora Culture. She and her husband Matt are major plant lovers so they have “planty” of knowledge about what to do (and what not to do!) with your leafy green roommates.

Indoor house plants can be happy and healthy all year long in our Texas climate, but during the winter months there are a few things Jemine said we should keep in mind. The days are shorter and darker which means most plants will need less water than they do during the summer months. Also, most plants love windows but if your plants are touching the glass, move them back a few inches so they won’t get damaged during winter freezes (that glass gets cold)!

She also helped us plant some super cute little plant friends in The Flora Culture’s trendy glass vessels that are so popular they can’t keep them in stock.
