Iconic actress and author Jennifer Grey chats new memoir, infamous Dirty Dancing lift, and more

HOUSTON – Over the weekend, Houston’s Jewish Community Center celebrated 50 years of being a cultural and literary hub with this year’s Jewish Book & Arts Festival closing event.

The two-week festival concluded with iconic actress, and now author, Jennifer Grey sitting down with Lauren Kelly for a fun conversation.

And it was definitely one for the *books* !

Jennifer has had an amazing career spanning over 4 decades, and most of her life was spent in the public eye.

Her famous grandfather, Mickey Katz was an entertainer, as well as her father Joel Grey who was best known for his role in the musical ‘Cabaret’ on Broadway.

Jennifer made her movie debut in the 1984 film ‘Reckless,’ but really became a household name when she played Jeannie Bueller in 1986′s ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.’

And it wasn’t until 1987 that she earned worldwide fame for starring as Frances “Baby” Houseman in ‘Dirty Dancing’ which also scored her a Golden Globe nomination.

Jennifer was a joy to chat with, and she’s got some great stories in her new book, ‘Out Of The Corner.’

Get a peek of Lauren Kelly’s chat with Jennifer about her career, new memoir, and of course...that infamous Dirty Dancing lift.
