Now what? City of Houston suspends curbside recycling

HOUSTON – In case you haven't noticed, the City of Houston is not picking up recycling at your curb.  The city's Solid Waste Department said while it focuses on debris removal from the flooding all over the city, curbside recycling is suspended until further notice. It has a lot of people wondering what to do with their recyclables.
  
You can still drop them off at one of 10 Houston depositories or recycling centers. They are now open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. 

There is no charge for dropping off your recycling; but you have to bring your driver's license and utility bill to prove you live within the city limits of Houston. Make sure you read the rules on sorting your recycling before you drive it over.

You can hire a private service to come collect your items curbside. CleanCat is an app created by a Rice University student. Just download the app, set your items out by the curb and request a pick-up.
The service costs $12.50 a week or $40 a month.

Recycle4U is a service started by a local mom. They collect your sorted recyclables. Prices range from $10 to $30 a month. 

Hauling Glass Houston picks up glass only from your curb. It costs $15 a month for 2 pick-ups.
