Renting a boat for the day in Houston just got easier

The Air BnB of boats, Boatsetter is expanding after acquiring rival service Boatbound. The company now has boats in more than 300 locations, making it the largest peer-to-peer boat rental service in the country.

Here's how Boatsetter works: People rent a vessel from a boat owner, or you can list your own. Boats either come with a captain or you can rent a separate captain. It's a way for boat owners to keep up with expenses of keeping their vessels afloat.

When we checked Boatsetters for boats for rent in the Houston area, we found an 8-passenger boat you can rent for $178 for 4 hours in Seabrook. If you want to pay for the owner to drive the boat, it costs $398. The site that was just bought out by Boatsetter, Boatbound seems to have an easier search feature and lists more vessels in Texas.
