As Seen on TV: Best and worst of 2015

From nail clippers to household cleaners to toys, Channel 2 has tested 39 "As Seen on TV" products this year. Some flopped while some were fabulous. Some were worth the price just for the laughs when trying them out.

They offer help in the kitchen, help with hair and help with a hound. If there is the slightest need, there is an "As Seen on TV" product claiming to be the fix. Channel 2 discovered they don't always provide the relief they promise.

Out of 39 products tested, 20 worked, 14 failed and five were inconclusive.

The Ped Egg is one of the five. It promises to leave your feet feeling baby smooth in minutes. Channel 2 meteorologist Britta Merwin was nice enough to give it a "B," but it wasn't an amazing product.

"I still have some cracks on the heel and a bit of callusing, but it feels softer to the touch," Merwin explained after trying the Ped Egg.

A clear winner was the Stonewave Microwave Cooker. It can cook omlettes and egpplant parmesan in about three minutes. Other shining stars include:

  • My Cleaning Secret, that cleans everything from brake dust on your wheels to baked on food off pots and pans was a success.
  • If you want to throw some water balloons, the Bunch-O-Balloons is a huge time saver. They can fill 100 balloons in one minute.

Products catering to the ladies were mostly a let-down. Channel 2 producers who tested Hot Buns thought they were a hot mess.

Rachel McNeil said an emphatic "NO" to the Yes, Finishing Touch Hair Remover. The RotoClippers didn't trim nails cleanly and quickly as promised.

Channel 2 ended the year on a high note with the Star Shower. The product that lights up houses with thousands of twinkling lights is so popular, it's backordered for months.

As we head into 2016, let us know if there are any "As Seen on TV" products you want Channel 2 consumer expert Amy Davis to test.
