HOUSTON – KPRC 2 viewers may remember the 7-year-old who has cancer that we featured on Thursday: little Piper Lively was dancing to Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” shortly after she received a chemotherapy treatment.

Now we know she has a friend with a KPRC 2 connection. Jemma -- the young girl who recently came in to deliver the forecast with Britta Merwin – is best friends with Piper.
As it turns out, Jemma is growing out her hair to donate it in honor of Piper.
When Jemma shared her weather forecast on KPRC 2, Piper got up and watched her early-morning TV debut.
Piper, who is a first grader, has neuroblastoma. She learned of her diagnosis back in February, and has since been undergoing aggressive chemotherapy treatments to combat the rare form of the disease.
