VIDEO: Girl dancing her way through cancer treatment

HOUSTON – A 7-year-old girl receiving cancer treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital is showing her grit through dance in a video posted on her support Facebook page.

The post showing Piper Lively dancing to Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” reads: “This is how you battle cancer! This is a great example of #BeatingThis. Love Piper and love this video of her enjoying life sooooooo much!!! She battled back from nausea and vomiting this morning to this!!!! Piper, your army is praying for you and dancing along with you tonight!!!”

An administrator of the page told KPRC, “Piper has been through much, but has come out smiling with a strengthened spirit each step of the way. Texas Children's Hospital has been wonderful. Piper has been magnificent.”

Piper is in the first grade at Black Elementary, according to the Facebook page.

The administrator of the page advocating for Piper said she learned about a tumor in February. Since then, she's endured six rounds of chemotherapy and four surgical procedures.

"She's suffered from nonstop nausea and vomiting, lost way too much weight, lost her hair (expected), and has missed all the things a 7-year-old loves - friends, school, parties, dance class/recital, etc. However, through it all she fought back, smiled and eventually DANCED as she continued to BEAT THIS illness  Her journey has been difficult, granted not as long or hard as for some, but a war just the same. And she is so close to claiming VICTORY."

The page administrator said Piper next faces two rounds of bone marrow transplantation, and added: "Piper has chosen to love life more than ever before, and her beauty and attitude is infectious!"
