Lopez Mexican Restaurant gives back to the community with 'Charitable Churros'

Lopez Mexican Restaurant gives back to the community

HOUSTON – Lopez Mexican Restaurant began operating its Dulce de Lopez Dessert Truck Thursday, featuring "Charitable Churros" to benefit local charities.

The dessert truck is located in the parking lot of Lopez Mexican Restaurant.  It serves up two scoops of ice cream -- vanilla, chocolate, praline, or cookie monster -- with a churro on top.  And it's not just any churro.  You can get a plain churro rolled in cinnamon sugar or you can get it rolled in crushed Oreos or sprinkles.

The desserts cost $4, and every penny of the profit will go to charity.  The Lopez family plans to partner with several charities over time.  Their first charity to benefit from this generous family's endeavor, however, is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and KPRC's #Countdown2Kona campaign to raise awareness and money for research to end blood cancers.  Learn more about the campaign at click2houston.com/teamintraining

The Lopez family believes in giving back to the community.  Houston and Fort Bend County have been exceptionally supportive of them in the nearly 40 years they have been in business, and they want to show their gratitude.

Come out to the Lopez Family Restaurant, have a great dessert and help a great cause all at once!
