HPD: Credit cards stolen out of gym locker

Crime Stoppers: Thief went on $4,200 shopping spree

HOUSTON – Surveillance cameras captured images of a woman on an expensive shopping trip after she stole a purse from a locker, police said.

Crime Stoppers said the woman waited in the women's locker room in what was Blast Fitness on the Katy Freeway near Memorial City to seal the purse on Jan. 18.

"The victim locked her valuables, her purse, her wallet, her credit cards in the locker and when she went to work out, the suspect in the case broke her lock, took her valuables, took her credit cards and went on a shopping spree," Crime Stoppers spokesman Ryan Sullivan said. "In this instance, there is virtually nothing that could have been done. The victim did all of the right things. Locked up her items, kept them in a secure environment, but an individual broke in and stole those items."

Crime Stoppers said the shopping trip added up to $4,200 in high-end stores in the Galleria, City Center and Memorial City malls.

Anyone who recognizes the woman in the photo is urged to call Crime Stoppers. The number is 713-222-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could earn a cash reward.
