Houston woman charged in bank robbery

Heist believed to be linked to other cases

HOUSTON – A Houston woman has been charged after a string of robberies.

Brittney Alexander, 22, is charged with robbery.

Witnesses in court records identified Alexander as one of the two women who robbed a Chase Bank on May 1.

Documents say a woman identified as Alexander came into the bank and handed the teller a slip of paper which read, "This is a robbery. I have a gun. Give me all the money and nobody will get hurt! Put it in an envelope."

The teller complied and gave the woman money from her cash recycler, about $1,000. The women got away, but their faces were captured on surveillance cameras.

Crime Stoppers released images of the women, and records show an anonymous tip led police to Alexander.

Bank employees eventually identified Alexander in a photo lineup based on a previous mug shot, according to police.

Police said in court documents the case was linked to four other robberies. It's unclear at this time when and where those robberies occurred.
