Texas begins relaxing COVID-19 restrictions including opening restaurants, offices at 75% capacity
AUSTIN, Texas โ Texas on Monday began relaxing some coronavirus restrictions, including allowing restaurants to let more people inside. Under the new orders, restaurants and retail shops that until now have only been allowed to operate at half capacity were allowed to open up to 75% starting Monday in most of the state. The Texas Department of State Health Services on Monday reported 1,742 new coronavirus cases and 24 more deaths due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus. Health officials say there have been 698,387 reported cases in Texas so far. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
H-E-B says customers dont have to wear face coverings inside their Houston stores
HOUSTON H-E-B shoppers dont need to wear a mask inside Houston-area stores, a spokesperson for H-E-B said Wednesday. Previously, they had strongly recommend the use of masks or facial coverings for their customers but didnt actually require it. However, they did require the use of masks or facial coverings by all customer facing and close-contact partners. And customers are encouraged to wear them but will not be barred entry into the stores for not wearing them. H-E-B strongly encourages the use of masks or facial coverings by all our customers in all stores, said Lisa Helfman, Director of Public Affairs for H-E-B in the Houston region, As Texans helping Texans, we wear masks to keep each other and our families safe."
