HOUSTON – As soon as you step outside, it feels like you’re walking into a sauna. Thanks to the heat and humidity as Houston hit the 90 for the first time this year on Monday and will be that way for the next couple of days before the next drop in temperatures.

So we went straight to Post Oak ER to find out how to stay safe this week in the heat before the drop in temperatures this weekend.

And according to Houston Public Media, working outdoors was the top reason for heat-related illness in Houston in 2022, especially among construction workers, warehouse workers, and firefighters.

People start feeling dizzy, they feel fatigue, weak, sometimes they get a little bit confused. And they come in with all these non-specific symptoms and they don’t realize they haven’t had enough fluids.

And according to a more recent article from Houston Public Media, starting this year, Harris County’s new worksite standards policy will provide rest breaks in high temperatures. When worksite temperatures are higher than 90 degrees, workers will be provided 15-minute

The average person should be drinking two and half liters a day. Also, people don’t realize that coffee is something that makes you dehydrated so you need to combine drinking coffee with a little more hydration.

Alcohol?

People go outside in this nice hot weather for a drink from the bar, but it’s also not providing them any hydration. They should be conscious about that because when hey drink alcohol in this nice spring weather, it will cause dehydration.
