Windy conditions in SE Texas ahead of a freeze warning Tuesday morning

Wind Advisory in effect through Monday evening, as winds are cranking 30-45mph

Winter Returns Monday:

Spring is only 4 days away, but Monday will be hanging onto a wintry feel. Strong northerly winds behind Sunday’s cold front push temperatures well below average into the 40s. When you factor in the wind, it will feel like the 30s!

Daytime highs will be almost 30 degrees colder, only in the mid-to-upper 50s.

Keep your yard decorations secure because a Wind Advisory will remain in effect through Monday. We’ll have to watch for spotty power outages. For those headed to the Rodeo carnival, there will likely be temporary closures on rides.

The strong winds are also increasing fire danger. The NWS is issuing a Red Flag Warning through Monday because of the dry and windy conditions. This means no outdoor burning because flames can spread quickly.

Freeze Warning:

A freeze warning was just issued for counties north of Houston. Sub-freezomg temperatures as low as 28° expected. The frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, so cover up those plants or bring them inside.
