Last week, a cool front kept us comfy in the 70s and 80s. Now, a high-pressure ridge is flipping the script, bringing blazing sunshine, fewer clouds, and sticky Gulf humidity—oh my! And thanks to the humidity it will feel much hotter - it will feel like a sauna by midweek!
Your weather, your health
The sudden jump from cool to scorching puts stress on your body. It takes 7–14 days to adjust to this heat and humidity, so stay kind to yourself and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Drink plenty of water to beat the heat and watch for dehydration signs:
Dehydration red flags
- Adults: Thirst, dry mouth, fatigue, dizziness, headaches, confusion, dry skin, rapid heartbeat.
- Kids: Dry mouth, no tears when crying, fewer wet diapers, lethargy, sunken eyes.
- Babies: Sunken soft spot (fontanelle), no wet diapers for 6+ hours, no tears, dry mouth, extreme fussiness.
Stay safe tips
- Drink 2–3 liters of water daily (more if active).
- Avoid peak heat (noon–4 PM).
- Skip alcohol and sugary drinks—they dehydrate you.
- Seek shade or AC during the hottest hours.
