Fourth of July Weekend Forecast:

While temperatures only lower by two degrees Sunday, the heat index will go below 108 degrees. That will wipe out any need for a heat alert. Rain is back in the forecast next week with temperatures in the mid-90s. Those heading to the beach, be aware of rip currents. Always swim with a buddy, and to go to an area with a lifeguard.

Tracking the Tropics:

A small area of storms that used to be Cindy, has a 10% chance of becoming our next named tropical system. It is struggling to survive. I’m tracking two named storms in the Pacific Ocean, Adrian and Beatriz. Hurricane Adrian moves harmlessly west. Tropical Storm Beatriz will affect Mexico. Tropical systems like Beatriz are usually the only way for parts of Mexico to get rain. If the storm doesn’t strengthen too much, this will bring beneficial rain to the west coast of Mexico and Cabo San Lucas. 10-Day Forecast:

The unrelenting dangerous heat is with us through Saturday. The dome of high pressure breaks down and moves east Sunday. Next week we’ll have more seasonable temperatures with a chance of storms starting Monday. There may be some storms present for the afternoon/early evening the Fourth of July but we should be rain-free for fireworks time at 9pm.
