Funnel clouds spotted as storms move through Houston region
HOUSTON – Funnel clouds were spotted earlier along the southeast Texas coast as storms moved through the Houston region.
Meteorologist Britta Merwin said the storms should end by the evening, but not before dumping heavy rain on some areas.
Several viewers shared pictures of funnel clouds and what appeared to be a waterspout in the Texas City area late Wednesday morning.

Merwin said that while widespread tornadoes are not expected with the storms, frequent lightning and gusty winds are possible.
The stormy pattern will likely end by the weekend with much warmer temperatures expected next week.
