HOUSTON – A band of heavy rain will develop and hover over parts of the southern United States, causing flooding problems for areas from Texas to the Ohio Valley.
Northeast Texas, along with portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi are all under Flood Watches.

Heavy rain will begin early Tuesday morning and last through Wednesday before tapering off Thursday.
Rainfall accumulation of more than eight inches is possible in isolated areas. Three to six inches of rain will be common.
Houston and most of Southeast Texas will be south of the area hardest hit. The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston does not anticipate having to issue a Flood Watch for the area.
Expect a total of two to four inches of rain in Southeast Texas between Tuesday and Thursday. Most of that rain will fall on Wednesday.
Areas north of Houston will likely see higher rainfall totals than coastal locations.
