Houston's weather roller coaster starts Friday

HOUSTON – In the span of three days, Houston will experience weather that is typical of three different seasons.

KPRC 2 meteorologist Britta Merwin said that while temperatures will start off a bit cool Friday morning, they will warm into the mid-70s by the afternoon, above the seasonal average of 65 degrees. Clouds will increase throughout the day, and a few showers are possible.

“Dress in layers,” Merwin said.

The warmth will stick around on Saturday, Merwin said. Temperatures will start in the upper 60s on Saturday morning with mostly cloudy skies, but will quickly climb into the lower 80s by the afternoon. A cold front racing through the area will bring a chance of showers and storms Saturday night.

“By Sunday morning, southeast Texas will wake up to a 30- to 40-degree temperature drop,” Merwin said.

While skies will be mostly sunny on Sunday, temperatures will climb only into the lower 40s for highs.

Merwin said freezing temperatures are expected by Monday morning.
