FAA may change electronic gadgets on flight rules

Some electronics may not be banned in the future

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Travelers may one day no longer be ordered to turn off all their electronic devices when you board a flight.

The Federal Aviation Administration is going to take a fresh look at the rules banning the use of some personal electronics on planes during taxi, take-off or landing, according to the New York Times.

The rule change would not include cellphones or smartphones, but the agency will explore testing e-readers, tablets and other gadgets.

It will be a lengthy process, so it could be a while before any changes are put into place.
