Across the nation, laser strikes on aircraft are a serious problem that poses significant danger to pilots and can even cause injuries.

United Airlines made its investment into its Houston hub official today, breaking ground on a new 140,000-square-foot Ground Service Equipment Maintenance Facility (GSE) at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

According to a Southwest Airlines spokesperson, Southwest Airlines Flight 2494 at Dallas Love Field Airport was reportedly struck by gunfire on the right side of the aircraft.

Several flights with Southwest Airlines that were scheduled to fly into Houston are diverting to other nearby cities due to an emergency at the William P. Hobby Airport.

We are just three months into 2022 and already the Federal Aviation Administration has received hundreds of reports of passengers acting aggressively in the air. Last year, 2021 was a record-setting year for the number of incidents involving disruptive passengers on planes. Because of this, flight attendants are enrolling in the Transportation Security Administration’s Crew Member Self-Defense training course.

It’s expected close to 2 million people will fly through Bush and Hobby airports for the Thanksgiving holiday. Safety is priority for airport, local and federal authorities.
