Boy Scouts spend over 100,000 hours on new project
This year, the Boy Scouts of America announced a brand new service project. It took over three months, but 400 troops conducted around 400 community-wide service projects across southeast Texas. Teen credited with saving injured KPRC 2 reporter receives national award
In January of 2020, KPRC 2 reporter Brandon Walker was hit by a truck in a crosswalk. He was severely injured and doesnโt remember much of that night. A few weeks later he learned a high school senior and Eagle Scout came to his rescue before an ambulance arrived. Walker and the young man have remained in touch ever since.
Boy Scouts submit reorganization plan to bankruptcy court
Paul Mones, an attorney representing hundreds of former Scouts, called the plan โwoefully and tragically inadequate.โโThe problem is that the Boy Scouts are not willing to dig deep enough for the deep pain they caused,โ he said. โI think the Boy Scouts have a responsibility here to make sure those men are taken care of,โ Mones said. Some 600 of the lawsuits were filed after the Boy Scouts asked the bankruptcy judge for a preliminary injunction halting lawsuits against local councils and sponsoring organizations. The committee has complained about a lack cooperation by local councils in response to its requests for information about their financial assets. Meanwhile, a court-appointed panel of mediators submitted a court filing Monday night indicating that the Boy Scouts have reached settlements with the official committee of unsecured creditors and with JPMorgan Chase, the organizationโs senior secured lender.
