A renovation is coming to Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood, as Fairstead puts $20 million into updating the Sunflower Terrace Apartments. Work starts this summer and is expected to wrap by August 2026, bringing upgraded homes and modern amenities to one of the city’s longstanding affordable housing communities.

State lawmakers passed the law after a North Texas homeowners’ association barred landlords from renting to Section 8 tenants. Most of the affected tenants in that neighborhood were Black.
