Weinstein accusers endorse Manhattan DA candidate Lucy Lang

A group of women, including Mann, who said they were victimized by Weinstein, endorsed former prosecutor Lucy Lang on Tuesday, Nov. 17 to replace the Manhattan district attorney who put the movie mogul behind bars. Lang, one of several women campaigning to become Manhattan’s first female state prosecutor, called their endorsement an “incredible honor." Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr., who oversaw Weinstein's prosecution, has not said whether he’ll seek a fourth term. Lang is among a host of candidates who have announced they are running for Manhattan district attorney. Lang was an assistant district attorney in Manhattan for 12 years before leaving in 2018 to become director of the Institute for Innovation in Prosecution at John Jay College.

Tears, thanks and surprise over Harvey Weinstein's 23-year sentence

(Reuters) - Harvey Weinsteins 23-year jail sentence for rape and sexual assault was greeted with tears, delight and surprise on Wednesday, particularly from some of the scores of women who have accused him of sexual misconduct dating back decades. Sorvino is one of a group of 24 Weinstein accusers called the Silence Breakers that also includes Ashley Judd, Rosanna Arquette and Rose McGowan. In the end, he got more than double the 3-10 year sentence handed down to comedian Bill Cosby in 2018 for sexual assault. Thank you for changing the future for us all, actress Ellen Barkin wrote on Twitter. Actress Jodie Turner-Smith, the star of the independent film Queen & Slim, wrote on Twitter: 23 years in prison for Harvey Weinstein.

Harvey Weinstein accusers "emotional" as movie mogul's sexual assault trial begins

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was expected in court in New York Monday for his long-awaited criminal trial. While the trial focuses on two women, some of the dozens of others who have accused the 67-year-old of sexual misconduct are expected to testify. Three of his accusers, who are not part of the trial, told CBS News correspondent Jericka Duncan that this is a day they've been waiting for. Actress Louise Godbold, who also accused the movie mogul of sexual misconduct, said those accusing Weinstein don't want him "roaming around." "What matters the most here is the charge of predatory sexual assault," CBS News legal analyst Rikki Klieman said.
