A federal grand jury in Roanoke, Virginia, returned an indictment on Thursday charging a Virginia man with employment tax fraud. As executive vice president, Moore allegedly directed the companyโs day-to-day management and was responsible for paying employment taxes to the IRS that Nexus withheld from its employeesโ wages. Moore is charged with 10 counts of willfully failing to pay employment taxes. His initial court appearance is scheduled for a later date before U.S. Magistrate Judge Joel Hoppe of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S.

A Virginia man was arraigned today on an indictment charging tax fraud that was returned by a federal grand jury in Roanoke, Virginia, on Aug. 20, 2020. According to the indictment, from approximately 1987 through at least 2010 James C. Jones Jr., of Christiansburg, owned Lifeline Ambulance Service Inc. (Lifeline). The indictment also charges that Jones submitted false individual tax returns each year from 2013 to 2018. In addition to tax fraud, the indictment further alleges that Jones submitted false applications to the Social Security Administration that omitted his domestic and foreign rental income. Jones is charged with tax evasion, filing false individual tax returns, corruptly endeavoring to obstruct the IRS, obstruction of justice and making a false statement regarding Social Security benefits.
