A Shady Acres woman said noise from nearby bars forced her to move out of her home. Houston Police is cracking down on neighbors nearby nightclubs and bars, issuing 115 citations in a weekend sweep targeting noise and other violations. Residents hope peace is finally on the way.

City of Houston bars, nightclubs, and restaurants within 300 feet of a residence will be required to get a new permit starting Tuesday after “numerous complaints” from people who live near these establishments about excessive late-night noise.

Outdoor surveillance cameras will be required at certain types of businesses starting Tuesday, under a new city of Houston ordinance that the ACLU of Texas calls unconstitutional.
