A Houston-area midwife at the center of a landmark Texas abortion case has been reindicted on 22 counts, including new allegations that she violated the Medical Practice Act and caused financial harm to patients.

A Texas court will hear an appeal this week in a case challenging an injunction that closed three Houston-area maternal health clinics run by a midwife accused under the state’s abortion law.
