HOUSTON – Community members came together to honor murdered Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen. On Thursday, Guillen’s family stood alongside community organizers outside a mural dedicated to Guillen at 7620 Gulf Freeway. But the most powerful voice of the evening was the voice that came from Vanessa Guillen’s 16-year-old sister Lupe Guillen. “I believe that if anyone would have spoken up for her, I believe I wouldn’t be standing here today,” Lupe Guillen said. However, Vanessa Guillen’s family said it has been seven months since their loved one’s death and there has been no one held accountable.
